This section features short introductions to newly released books. Zahit Atam’s Yakın Plan Yeni Türkiye Sineması Dört Kurucu Yönetmen: Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Yeşim Ustaoğlu, Zeki Demirkubuz, Derviş Zaim (New Turkish Cinema in Close-up: Four Founding Directors: Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Yeşim Ustaoğlu, Zeki Demirkubuz, Derviş Zaim) (2011), based on his doctoral thesis, considers Ceylan, Ustaoğlu, Demirkubuz, and Zaim to be the four founding directors of New Turkish cinema. Roy Armes’ Üçüncü Dünya Sineması ve Batı (Third-World Film Making and the West) (2011), which features four separate sections, is a key resource for understanding Third-World cinema. Paul Julian Smith’s Pedro Almodovar: Sınırsız Arzu (Desire Unlimited: The Cinema of Pedro Almodovar) (2011) argues that the cinema of Pedro Almodovar is congruent with the history of the Spanish film industry. Finally, Thorsten Botz-Bornstein in Filmler ve Rüyalar: Tarkovski, Bergman, Sokurov, Kubrick ve Wong Kar-Wai (Films and Dreams: Tarkovsky, Bergman, Sokurov, Kubrick, and Wong Kar-Wai) (2011) claims that dreams are aesthetic expressions and focuses on the forms of these special expressions.
